I was talking to a friend who doesn't really dig LA and just went skiing and is just loving the cold, and she was saying how she doesn't get people who live in LA. She says they are pod people. They love avocados! And believe in Feng Shui! And having healthy diets...and stuff!
And that just made me think.
Hmmmm...
Because I love avocados. And Feng Shui interests me. And I've always tried to stay healthy. Not just because I live in LA, though.
Before I moved to LA, I had no interest in Mexican food or Sushi. I come to LA and find myself craving a) sushi b) mexican c) something else healthy and yummy and fresh.
And you can get that in LA. You can! Hot dawg.
So, I guess I'm turning into an LA pod person.
I never thought I'd say this...but I'm becoming biased to the west side of the US of A. I think...I love...california. And the Southwest. And being close to Mexico. And being warm. Yes. Warmth.
I don't think I'm ever coming back in the winter months again to New York, or the east coast. Not if I can help it.
I've found myself on this trip continually having to defend southern california to people. And honestly, yesterday I realized that my efforts are pretty futile. I'm in New York, City of I LOVE NEW YORK and NEW YORK IS THE BEST PLACE ON EARTH. Even my own sister, who has never even been to LA or Califonia said she hates LA. She's never even been there and she says she can't stand it. But living in New York, I guess she feels entitled to state her opinion and have it ring out as truth. Still. All I'm saying. Don't judge a place if you've never been.
Now, I'm not saying I don't love New York. I love the City and always have. But I've also come to love LA. It's true it's slower, it's true the traffic makes me want to claw my hair out sometimes, and it's true some of the people can be fake. But there are also lots of people who aren't fake. There are also artists doing there thing, loving the warm weather, living their lives...And besides, NYC isn't perfect either. The subway is crowded and sometimes stalls, and there are people everywhere, which is refreshing but can also be suffocating. And let's not forget the winter. The cold, bitter months that make me want to go into hibernation.
I guess all I'm saying is...well...to each their own.
TO EACH THEIR OWN!
There are enough places on this earth where we can go and be happy...and live live live...
And that is all.
For now....
Ciao.
